Self-Injury Support Group

Welcome to Beyond Bandages

Beyond Bandages is a self-injury support group for adult men and women who cause self-inflicted pain and/or injuries to themselves (as a form of coping), who are seeking support or have overcome and looking for support, in a group environment.

1st & 3rd Thursdays @ 7:00pm

Support & Understanding

Our self-injury support group takes place on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month. Come out to be part of a supportive group where you can discuss the real struggles of overcoming self-inflicted violence.  Regardless of where you are in your road to recovery, we are here to listen and support.

Beyond Bandages

Each self-injury support group meeting has a specific topic and takes place in a relaxed environment.

  • Starts: 7:00pm
  • Ends: 9:00pm
  • Doors open at 6:30pm & close at 9:30pm.
  • There is one 10 minute break at 7:55pm.

*If you arrive after 7:10pm, you will need to wait to come in the meeting until the break, which is 7:55pm-8:05pm.

Group Facilitator

The support group was designed and created in 2005 by Launching Point founder, Vicki Duffy. She facilitates the group and over the years, she has asked group members assist at a meeting, which is great to see recovered group members be so involved.

Support Group Background & History:

Started in 2005

Beyond Bandages is a self-injury support group that began on Friday, November 4, 2005 in Florham Park as "Breaking the Silence of Self-Injury" at the 2nd floor of Living Praise Church. It has continued as "Beyond Bandages" and currently takes place on the 1st and 3rd Thursday nights of every month.  We supplement the group with activities that take place on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of every month for those that regularly attend meetings.

Closed Meetings

The self-injury support group meetings are closed, only open to those that currently harm, in process of overcoming, or have overcome and looking for support.

If you bring a guest, friend or family member, they are welcome to stay in the lobby.

We Moved to Boonton on August 1, 2019

The self-injury support group originally began in 2005 in Florham Park as "Breaking The Silence Of Self-Injury"  and changed the name in 2009 to "Beyond Bandages".  Launching Point moved to Rockaway in January, 2015.  We we were at 21 Pine Street in Rockaway (for 3 1/2 years) until April 26, 2019; we then rented space at the Hampton Inn, Denville until August 1, 2019.  We are happy to announce that hiatus was very short and we got a new location to call home!  We moved to our new location on August 1, 2019 to Main Street in Boonton!

Our support group meeting takes place on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of every month

  • Online Support: We have created a safe and secure online self-injury support forum  where every member will register and have their own user name and password to get onto the support group forum.
  • The online support group is available at

  • Workshops, Seminars, and Speaking Engagements: Beyond Bandages (dedicated/active members) will be involved in these and will take place at high schools, hospitals, and conferences when needed as well as when we are invited.
  • All offsite speaking engagements or meetings will be scheduled on the 2nd & 5th Thursdays of every month and/or on the 2nd Friday of every month.

Parent/Guardian Self-injury Awareness

  • The 4th Friday of every month is reserved for awareness workshops. We provide a self-injury awareness workshop for parents of those that self-injure.
  • The workshop will consist of a  slideshow presentation followed by a question and answer session.
  • After the session there will be a time to share about the struggles/challenges each parent may be facing with their son or daughter.
  • Light refreshments are served.

Self-Injury Talk Show

  • We had a self-injury radio show, 'Show Your Scars' from 2014 to 2017 and we believe it is time to go in the direction of an in-person talk show.
  • Starting in January we will be having our crew involved in the discussions and the show will be recorded live at Launching Point.
  • We will post at least 2 shows a month to our YouTube channel.

What Launching Point Offers:

  • Our desire is to reach out to the community, and that will take us away from our location as we get invited to hold seminars or speak at schools.

  • Launching Point will continue going to festivals bringing awareness on self-inflicted violence and talking with people about how to overcome. Note: Only active/dedicated members of Beyond Bandages will be involved as they have been over the years.

  • Launching Point launched an online store in November 2018 and is bailable 24/7 at

  • Launching Point will continue our focus of bringing hope, awareness, and inspiration via the messages on our products. We will begin to bring select products to speaking engagements.

  • Launching Point mails self-injury awareness packets to schools and hospitals so they know what we offer.  If you are a counselor or administrator, please contact us and we will send you a packet.

  • All meetings, seminars, events, activities, and festivals will be indicated on our calendar and app.
